UNISON Scotland Bargaining Briefing
UNISON Scotland Bargaining Briefing which gives the facts about COSLA’s pay offer of 17 February.
This is a ‘real terms’ pay cut.
Local Government Pay: 3% is NOT Enough!
COSLA’s 3% pay offer is a real-terms pay cut. With inflation, rent, council tax, and energy bills all rising, local government workers are being asked to accept less — again.
Since 2009, the real value of pay has dropped by 22%, costing workers £11,000 a year and £76,000 over time.
Meanwhile, living costs have soared:
Electricity: +144%
House prices: +73%
Fares: +93%
Local government workers deserve better than falling living standards.
