UNISON Perth & Kinross – Strike Action

Day 1 of Strike Action in Perth & Kinross!
This morning, school workers from Unison Perth & Kinross took to the picket lines to demand fair pay – not just for themselves, but on behalf of all local government workers across Scotland.
For a decade, their pay has been cut by 25%, despite their critical role in keeping our schools running, caring for our most vulnerable, and maintaining essential services in our communities.
These workers are taking a stand, and we stand with them. Together, we’re fighting for fair pay and respect for all council workers.
Check out some of the photos from this morning’s picket lines and show your support by sharing.

Day 3:Unison Perth & Kinross members still standing strong for fair pay!
Our members are showing incredible resilience as we enter day 3 of strike action. This isn’t just about wages—it’s about respect for the vital work council staff do every day to keep our schools, streets, and services running.
The message is clear: Council workers deserve better!
 Let’s Keep the Momentum Going:
Keep sharing their story, show up to the picket lines, and demand fair pay for ALL council workers!
Your support keeps us strong, and together, we’ll make sure council workers get the pay and recognition they’ve earned.

DAY FIVE
Standing Strong for Fair Pay and Fair Treatment
Unison Perth & Kinross members continue their strike for fair pay, and while John Swinney may find our action “unacceptable,” the real issue is the unacceptable treatment of council workers across Scotland.
Here’s the truth: Education staff don’t want to close schools. They love their work and would rather be in classrooms supporting children. But without fair pay, they’re left with no choice.
We’re calling on the Scottish Government, Cosla, and union leaders to come together at the table. This dispute can end if those in power step up. #unisonstrikes #FairPayNow
